Rwandan rapper Jay Polly will entertain East Africans in Dubai today, September 19.
The show, dubbed ‘East African Night’, is organised by Royal al Emaral General Trading LLC, and will be held at Venom Deira Club & Lounge.
Speaking about the performance, Jay Polly said this was a great opportunity and very excited to perform before the crowd since the pandemic was confirmed in Rwanda in mid-March.
"I am so excited to finally get back on stage and enjoy the vibes with music lovers after a long time,” the rapper told The New Times.
The ‘Deux Fois Deux’ star said artistes have been hit hard by the pandemic, since social distancing restrictions led to large events such as concerts and festivals being cancelled.
"Music is our source of income. But no one should put their lives at risk, therefore we have to respect preventive guidelines against the pandemic,” he said.
Jay Polly jetted out of the country over the weekend to Dubai to buy equipment for a recording studio, but along the way through his team based in Dubai secured him a gig to perform this Saturday.
This will be the first time the singer will perform before revelers since the pandemic outbreak. However, he recently headlined the ongoing Iwacu Muzika festival, in a live talent show that airs on Rwanda Television (RTV) every Saturday.
