BURERA — The newly appointed Governor of the Northern Province, Aime Bosenibamwe on Monday handed over his mayoral post to his former vice in charge of Economic Affairs, Joseph Zaraduhaye.
The handover ceremony was held at the district office in Kilambo, and witnessed by the Provincial Executive Secretary, Deo Kabagambe.
Zaraduhaye will oversee official functions in an acting capacity.
Bosenibamwe, was appointed last week by cabinet as the new governor replacing Boniface Rucagu, who was moved to head the national task force of Itorero Ryigihugu.
While passing on the mantle, Bosenibamwe called upon his successor to build on the good foundation which has been put in place, pointing out that team work and unity of both residents and those in authority is the key to achieving greater forms of development.
Before he assumed the position of Burera Mayor in 2006, Bosenibamwe, had previously served in the Ministry of Agriculture. He then moved to the former Kibungo Province as the Executive Secretary.
Upon receiving the District Development Plan, the district performance contracts (Imihigo) document,the district budget, and other reports, the newly appointed acting Mayor said that the political stability and collective efforts of the residents would help spur the district’s development initiatives.
