REMERA Buffaloes have not made any significant signing in the off-season but the club’s coach-player Gerard Nsenga is confident his side can retain the National Rugby League championship.

Buffaloes edged Kaduha Tigers and Gorilla to last year’s title. Speaking to Times Sport recently, Nsenga said that the team is in great shape and ready to wrestle.

"We have had regular training sessions and feel in the right frame of mind to fight for the title,” he said. Unlike other teams who have beefed up their sides with a couple of new signings,
Buffaloes are sticking to their policy of grooming youngsters even when they have to compete with a star-studded Gorilla side.

"We won’t change the way we have been doing things. We have added a few youngsters in the side, who we hope to bank on to challenge for honours,” Nsenga said.

"Our team is good enough and can beat anybody in the league,” he added.

Buffaloes’ best ever season came last year when the club made a name in the region.

On top the club’s encouraging display in Uganda’s Hima-Mak 10s tournament, Buffaloes also stole the limelight in Kenya when they got to the semi-finals of the prestigious Priscloo Nakuru Sevens.
