Rwanda’s Emelique Kimana Uwase will participate in the Miss Supranational 2025 in Poland.

The last time Rwanda had a representative at the annual global beauty pageant was in 2022 when Anita Kate Umuratwa was crowned Miss Supranational Rwanda 2020.

Uwase, a 24-year-old, qualified for Miss Supranational 2025 after winning the Rwanda Universal Personality competition, which concluded in Kigali on Friday, June 21, overcoming competition from Marie Ange Ingabire Ndinda and Esther Ishimwe, who emerged first and second runners-up in the contest.

Uwase was spotted shedding tears of joy as her opponents-turned colleagues congratulated her upon winning the contest.

She admitted that, "it was not easy to make it this far," and is looking forward to yet another challenge at Miss Supranational.

"This is a new chapter that I should strive to win. I have a lot to focus on, including rehearsals, in order to represent my country well. It&039;s a beautiful journey and a new chapter indeed, although it isn't easy," she said.

A first-year Marketing student at University of Kigali, Uwase grew up dreaming to one day represent Rwanda on the global stage. Her dream came into reality after securing the ticket to Miss Supranational 2025 a global contest which the likes of Umuratwa (2021), Shanita Umunyana (2019), Charlotte Umulisa (2022) and Miss Rwanda 2014 Colombe Akiwacu (2015) previously contested in.

Although neither of her predecessors managed to take home the crown, she remains confident of defying the odds and win one this time round.

"Everyone joins the competition hoping to win, and that&039;s what I anticipate. Since I've won on the national level [Rwanda Universal Personality Competition], I have no doubt that I can also do it on the international scene. I am confident that I stand a chance," she added.

Rwanda Universal Personality, through which Uwase won a ticket to Miss Supranational global 2025, is a national event aimed at identifying and celebrating individuals who embody a well-rounded and exemplary personality. The competition showcases a diverse range of qualities, including intelligence, charisma, leadership skills, cultural awareness, social responsibility, and a positive impact on society.

The contest focuses on nurturing individuals who can inspire others and contribute meaningfully to society through their actions and influence.
