Editor,

I was not surprised when I read in your paper that Rwanda was rewarded for fighting corruption. The fact that in the past couple of days, many government officials were arrested for embezzling public funds, does not mean that Rwanda is the most corrupt country in the region.

On the contrary, it shows that Rwanda is the number one country ready to fight corruption in the region. It is wrong to put a ‘blanket’ on ills going on in a society, like corruption.

In fact, I call upon the concerned authorities, to unearth and punish all the greedy in our country. Fighting corruption must be a long but steady process that aims not at just putting the culprits in jail, but also making them pay back the money they steal.
