MUHANGA — Local leaders in Muhanga district have expressed frustration over residents’ failure to participate in the National Police anti-corruption campaign.

During the launch of the anti-corruption campaign last week, the turnout of residents was remarkably low, it wasmostly children, who marched through Gitarama town accompanied by police officers.

"Residents of Gitarama have been known for resisting some of the government programmes. The announcements were done but they have not turned up,” one leader commented informally.

The residents claimed that the information about the campaign was abrupt. However, some of them could be seen idling in the town centre.

Addressing residents who gathered at the Gitarama stadium, Abedi Ruzidana, the Vice Mayor urged them to be on the forefront of fighting corruption and other forms of vices, saying local government services are a right to all Rwandans.
