APR men’s basketball club have completed the signing of young power-forward Kenny Rubaduka on a one-year contract.

The 21-year old most recently featured for AAU basketball team in the United States, a club he joined in 2014 and played for until 2016 when he got an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that ruled him out for a long while.

Rubaduka was part of the Rwanda U-16 national team that finished ninth at the 2015 FIBA Africa U-16 Championships in Bamako, Mali.

Speaking to this publication on Friday, APR head coach Aime Karim Nkusi said that Rubaduka shows signs of becoming a good player in the future, and has a lot of passion for the game.

In a separate interview, Rubaduka could not hide his excitement for joining ‘one of the biggest’ basketball clubs in the country.

"I am very happy to join one of the biggest clubs in the country. It is a great opportunity for me and [hopefully] I will win titles with APR.”

He finds APR in third position on the national league table with 15 points. The army side have played eight games, won seven and lost once.

Rubaduka also previously played for Layton Christian Academy and the Mark Burton Academy in the U.S. Mark Burton is one of the coaches that trained NBA star Kawhi Leonard during his youth basketball days.
