Transfer Updates: Ani in Belgium for pro trials with Charleroi

Nigerian striker Elijah Ani is in Belgium to undertake a three-week professional trial with Jupiler Pro League side Royal Charleroi SC.

Ani, who recently signed for Police FC from Bugesera FC, departed Kigali on Friday, June 21, to honor Charleroi’s invitation to have trials.

The talented forward, who bagged 15 goals in the 2023/24 Primus National League season and also propelled Bugesera FC to the final of the Peace Cup and his performance earned him a nomination for the Rwanda Premier League player of the year award which he is contesting with APR FC midfielder Jean Bosco Ruboneka and Rayon Sports captain Kevin Muhire.

Ani was scouted by Charleroi in the course of the season and they have now offered him a trial to assess him well. The club is reportedly ready to buy out his contract if he passes the trials.

Nsanzimfura to decide his future in July

Meanwhile, former APR midfielder Keddy Nsanzimfura has said he will decide his future when his contract with Egyptian second tier side Qanah FC expires on June 30.

The Rwanda international signed for Qanah in September 2023 but he has been struggling for playing time due to limited number foreign players in the Egyptian second tier league.

A move back to Rwandan topflight league but all will depend from the outcomes of his talks with the club.

Gor duo linked with APR

Gor Mahia duo of Alpha Onyango, 23, and Austin Odhiambo, 24, are linked with a move to Rwandan champions APR FC the club continues to reinforce squad for the 2024/25 season.

Reports in Kenya indicate that the pair got an invitation from APR FC but the club has dismissed any move for the two players.

Meanwhile, the club unveiled its coaching staff led by Serbian Darko Novic who was officially announced as new head coach on Friday, June 21.

Novic will be assisted by Dragan Sarac and Rwandan Thierry Hitimana as first and second assistant coaches while Marmouche Mehdi was named fitness coach, taking over from late Adel Zrane who passed away in April.

Lastly, Gorilla have signed goalkeeper Serge Ntangisanayo from Gasogi United on a two -year deal.
