"It was hard in the beginning. Most people used to discourage me in many ways, but I insisted on the business,” Nafutari Nkurunziza said and briefly explained how his typical day goes.
By 5a.m, I am out of bed, search for water, have a shower then move on to my work place in Kiyovu market.
By 6:30a.m, I make sure my shop is already open to ensure I get clients heading to their work places. Work picks-up at 8a.m. That’s also about the time I have breakfast.
I continue working and have lunch when the number of customers has reduced. By 2p.m the turn-up is not big so I rest a bit.
3p.m I start getting some customers. Slowly by slowly, business picks up, especially in the evenings.
I continue working until 8:30p.m then go home. As soon as I reach home, I bath.
At around 9p.m, I have supper from a nearby restaurant, and then get back home. I normally listen to some music before I go to bed. I usually go to bed before 10p.m
