President Touadera sees off Rwandan peacekeeper’s body

The President of Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadu00e9ra pays his last respects to Sergeant-Major Edouard Nsabiyaremye, an RDF peacekeeper who was killed in an attack on July 13.

The President of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadera on Tuesday, July 21, paid his last respects to fallen RDF peacekeeper, Sergeant Major Edouard Nsabiyaremye who was killed while on a UN peacekeeping mission.

Late Sergeant Major Nsabiyaremye who was killed on July 13, was serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).

The attack, according to a public statement shared on the following day, July 14, was allegedly carried out by the Return, Reclamation and Rehabilitation (3R) armed elements who targeted a MINUSCA convoy in Gedze, Nana-Mambere prefecture in the northwest of the country.

MINUSCA announced the send-off ceremony through its Twitter handle on Tuesday, July 21, where President Touadera is seen laying a wreath in tribute to the fallen peacekeeper.

The contingent commander Lt. Col Joseph Bayingana Safari thanked the Central African Republic for the tribute portrayed towards the Rwandan peacekeeper.

"On behalf of Rwanda Battalion and Rwanda Ministry of Defence family, we are humbled to say thank you for being with us at the best time of need when we pay the last farewell tribute to our fallen comrade SM Nsabiyaremye,” Safari said.
