The Dgmarket project is collaborating with the Rwanda Public Procurement Authority (RPPA) to have government tenders accessible online both in the country and internationally.

DgMarket is an online procurement platform that avails both private and government tenders on a web portal.

A two-day training which ended yesterday brought together 15 procurement officers from different public institutions.

"The main objectives of the training is to enlighten participants on how the system works; tenders are posted on the web and they are accessed easily and this helps people from all around the world to access them. Another advantage is that the tenders stay on the web for a long time,” said DgMarket project manager, Aimee Usanase during an interview.

According to Usanase, this training is the third of its kind and has been going on for the past three years. He said that in total, 140 officers have since been trained, adding that they will soon start training business community members.

Usanase added that their services are reliable, free of charge, faster and easy to access.

"All you need is to log onto our website and access everything you need about the tenders,” he added.

According to Jean Claude Karangwa, one of the participants, these trainings are important for people who work in the fields were tenders are involved.

"DgMarket system is cheap, accessed around the whole world and it is less time consuming because you get the information on any tender you want. I think these trainings should also be given to people in the private sector,” said Karangwa, who works with RPPA.

The global DgMarket tendering service is an initiative of the Rwanda Development Gateway—which is comprised of students of the National University of Rwanda (NUR) -- and it makes accessible more than 30,000 current public procurement notices on any given day. It came about following an agreement between NUR and RPPA to implement the tender publication system.

DgMarket is a global online marketplace that provides key e-tendering solutions on donor and government funded development activities, encourages government transparency and efficiency, and promotes business opportunities for local suppliers of goods and services.
