Power forward Axel Mpoyo scored a team high 30 points on Friday night, June 21, to help APR beat Kigali Titans 101-69 and move top of the Rwanda Basketball League table.
The game, held at Lycee de Kigali gymnasium, started with some entertaining basketball show in the first quarter which ended all square 22-22 before APR took the second quarter 25-18 to lead the game 47-40 at the break.
Back in second half, Maze Trakh’s men extended their lead, taking the third and fourth quarters 27-18 and 27-11 respectively to take another win in the bag. Bsides Mpoyo, Osborn Shema notched a double-double (17 points and 10 rebounds) while Chris Ruta added 15 points for the Rwandan champions.
With the win, APR now lead the standings with 23 points, a point clear of Patriots who have a game in hand.
In another game, REG beat Orion 118-57. While Inspire Generation will host UGB at the same venue.
League action continues on Saturday, June 22, when Patriots face Kepler in a mouthwatering matchup at Lycee de Kigali gymnasium. Patriots can retain their top spot if they beat Kepler.
