The Rwanda Ministry of Health (MoH) in partnership with Irembo, has introduced a new health facilities licensing platform, Public Procurement for Innovation (PPI), to enhance and simplify healthcare services across Rwanda.
According to the official statement, PPI includes 13 digital services and seamlessly integrates with Irembo’s secure payment system, significantly improving efficiency and accessibility.
MoH’s spokesperson, Angelos Munezero, emphasised the importance of this integration, highlighting that it provides a single and seamless front-end user experience.
"This collaboration demonstrates technology’s profound impact in addressing critical challenges and improving lives. By streamlining processes and enhancing accessibility, these solutions aim to optimise healthcare efficiency and promote equity. This initiative marks a significant step towards a healthier future for all Rwandans,” he said.
Munezero added that the launch’s objective was to educate various stakeholders, including public institutions and startups, about the PPI framework. "This framework leverages research and development to address critical challenges and promote economic growth,” he noted.
Patrick Ndjientcheu, Chief Product and Engineering Officer at Irembo, emphasised their commitment to revolutionising healthcare through technology. "Irembo is honoured to be part of this transformative project. Our secure and efficient digital solutions are expected to significantly enhance healthcare services in Rwanda,” he stated.
Noella Kajeneri, the Director of Business Development at Irembo, highlighted that this initiative is one of many projects to provide a single interface for citizens and businesses seeking government services.
Dr Rene Kabalisa, Principal of Research and Development at the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA), noted that PPI significantly advances Rwanda’s healthcare system. He emphasised that by leveraging advanced technologies; essential services are digitised, enabling healthcare providers to focus on delivering high-quality care to all Rwandans.
Sylvere Mugumya, a representative from the Ministry of ICT and Innovation (MINICT) shared that the launch of PPI marks a significant advancement for Rwanda’s healthcare industry, reaffirming its commitment to using technology to address societal challenges through its partnership with Irembo.
