The Kenyan Commercial Bank (KCB) is poised to open 7 more branches in the country by the end of this year. The financial institution with its head offices in Nairobi has started recruiting staff that will boost its expansion drive.
The recruitment exercise that commenced this week will create at least 105 jobs with a minimum of 15 staff for each branch.
"We are carrying out interviews, so that the selected people can receive training. This will serve in the new branches of the bank across the country,” Gloria Nyamabok, the Head of Business at KCB’s Head Office told Business Times this week.
Nyamabok said that KCB was particularly interested in fresh graduates although it would also consider an experienced workforce.
"We are interested in providing opportunities for people to grow. We also have exchange programmes for our people to improve their skills,” Nyamabok said.
The new group of staff will undergo training for three months in Nairobi. KCB is currently operating with one branch at the, Avenue de la Paix, in Kigali. The expansion will bring 7 new branches in Butare, Changugu ,Gisenyi, Ruhegeri, Nyagatare and Gitarama .
Kigali will also have an additional branch in Remera. The first phase of the expansion is expected to begin in July.
"For us to grow we must expand. We need to increase our presence in the country to be effective in extending our services to the people. And we can only be effective if we have a network of branches,” Nyamabok said.
She also mentioned that the bank is in the process of rolling out ‘core’ banking services. This will make it possible for customers to access their accounts in the different countries where the bank holds offices.
In a parallel interview, Patrick Rono, the Head of Operations at the bank said that the recruitment exercise will see more Rwandans joining the institution.
