André Casa Mbungo has been appointed as the new head coach for Rwanda Premier League side Gasogi United on a contract that runs until the end of the 2020-21 season, the club announced on Friday.
Mbungo, whose six-month contract with Rayon Sports expired on Tuesday, will be assisted by Burundian Alain Kirasa who was also his assistant at Rayon.
The former AS Kigali, SC Kiyovu and Police tactician takes over the club from DR Congo-born Guy Bukasa who moved the other way from Gasogi to Rayon on Thursday, also on a one-year deal.
Mbungo’s track record includes winning two Peace Cup titles with two different clubs, first with AS Kigali in 2013, before repeating the feat with Police in 2015.
The 51-year old also previously had a brief stint as head coach of the national team – Amavubi.
