Anaise Mugabekazi Ngoga will represent Rwanda at the 2022 Miss Africa Calabar. The beauty pageant hosted in the city of Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria every December 27th, eve to Carnival Calabar, Africa’s biggest street party is set to hold its 4th edition.
It was a difficult journey due to the fact that Mugabekazi was competing with former Miss Rwanda contestant, Shemsa Munyana.
In an interview with local media, after she found out that she was chosen to represent Rwanda at the beauty pageant, Mugabekazi said that she felt very happy and that she was already prepared.
Mugabekazi said that they started competing in the online voting stage after they passed the interview stage where they were asked questions about how they will help Africa if they are crowned, their project and their goals in life.
She said that some time ago she registered for this competition with the help of journalist and model Christelle Kabagire, who also worked with the organizers of this competition especially in 2020.
She said that since then, they have continued to talk to the organizers of this competition until recently when they asked them to alert their friends and others to support them and vote for them in the online elections.
Mugabekazi was one of the contestants in Miss Rwanda 2022, where she competed in Eastern Province.
She said he was already following Miss Africa Calabar and looking for ways to participate. "I was already watching. It's a beauty pageant that I used to follow, and I felt like I wanted to participate. I didn't know if I could get there, but I wanted it, then I got lucky and loved it.”
2021 Miss Africa Calabar which was held at Calabar International convention Centre was won by Sarra Sellimi from Tunisia.
Miss Africa Calabar brings together girls from different African countries and takes place in Cross River State of Nigeria. It started in 2016.
In 2020, Rwanda was represented by Yasipi Casmir Uwihirwe, who reached the top five and won the crown of the contestant who beat others in physical exercises (Sport Prince).
She was also appointed Cross River State Ambassador to promote local tourism. It was the same with Jasinta Makwabe who represented Tanzania.
