72 Covid-19 cases confirmed in detention centre in Rwanda

Rwanda on Monday, June 29 reported 101 new positive cases of Covid-19 bringing the tally of confirmed cases to 1,001 against 443 recoveries.

The latest update was obtained from 2,498 sample tests carried out in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, of the new cases, 22 are from Kigali, three from Rusizi district, two from Rubavu district, one from Kayonza district and another one reported from Kirehe district.

The remaining 72 new cases, as per the Ministry, were detected from a detention center in Ngoma district and they are linked to Rusumo cases.

Since mid-March when the first case was reported in Rwanda, the country has carried out a total of 140,249 sample tests and reported two deaths.

It is expected that a cabinet meeting will be held this week to decide on what new directives should be employed in bid to contain the pandemic in the country.
