East African Promoters (EAP) promises more thrilling performances at the ongoing Iwacu Musika festival.
EAP is the organiser of the annual festival, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Culture and ArtRwanda - Ubuhanzi among other partners, to promote Rwandan talent.
Unlike last year, the event is being held without the physical presence of fans in bid to align with the Government’s directives against Covid-19 spread, that among others restrict large gatherings.
The festival, in its second edition, kicked-off on June 20, with Bruce Melody’s performance headlining the event.
Last week, Igor Mabano also performed, which he says was a good experience.
"It was a good experience because it took me less time to get used to the band before the occasion. As an artiste, I had to give a good performance though there were no fans present,” he told The New Times on Monday, June 29.
The R&B singer said that he received impressive feedback from his fans after the show.
According to Joseph Mushyoma, the CEO of EAP, music lovers and entertainment enthusiasts should expect more exciting performances in the remaining weeks of the festival.
"We are receiving positive comments from our audience, which is even beyond what we expected, considering that this was the first online festival. People have now adopted Saturday evening a rendez-vous, which we really appreciate.”
He added, "We promise entertainment lovers more good performances ahead, from different renowned personalities ranging from secular, gospel and traditional artists among others.”
Under the new arrangement of Iwacu Musika festival, musicians and visual artists will be performing every Saturday between 8:45 pm to 10:15pm on Rwanda Television.
The talent show is expected to run till September 26.
Performers
A total of 15 artistes are on the line-up to perform at this festival, including gospel, traditional, and secular musicians to ensure diversity. Apart from music performances, the annual festival offers a wide range of different categories including live painting, poetry, fashion, drama and photography among others.
