Despite creating difficult times in different aspects of life, the Covid-19 pandemic has also had its positives especially in form of lessons it has given.

Guibert Nijimbere, who is one of the players in domestic basketball, is one of those people that have gained lessons in the rare period characterised with lockdowns, fear, and distance from loved ones among others.

In an exclusive interview with Times Sport, the 23-year old revealed some of the intimate life lessons gained in the period, among which is using time for good causes.

 "With the pandemic, I think we have now understood that there are many valuable things in life that money can’t buy or replace… such as happiness and spending time with loved ones,” said the Burundi-born point-guard.

"Staying at home as result of Covid-19 has also helped me to re-ignite love for cooking.”

The Burundi international is eager to hit the field again.

"I have really missed basketball and, training and playing with my teammates. Looking forward to the day the league will return. I am sure this feeling is shared by many players.”

"I do online training with coaches to stay fit, the lockdown never stopped me.”

Nijimbere played a crucial role as three-time Rwandan Patriots secured a ticket to the inaugural Basketball Africa League (BAL) regular season with a perfect unbeaten run in the two-round qualifiers.
