Rwanda, through the Rwanda TVET Board (RTB), has collaborated with the Government of Luxembourg, represented by LuxDev, to launch a €5 million (approximately Rwf 7 billion) project aimed at enhancing digital skills in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The "Digital Skills for Quality TVET” project, seeks to improve the quality and accessibility of TVET education across the country by expanding the use of the Blended Learning approach.
The official launch of the two-and-a-half-year project took place on June 18 at Rugando Technical Vocational School.
The event attracted various stakeholders and partners, including a delegation from Luxembourg led by Vice Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, and the Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs.

According to a statement from RTB, the project is financed by LuxDev with a grant of €5 million.
"Key achievements of the project so far include the procurement of 3,000 laptops for the blended learning pilot phase, the establishment of a Steering Committee chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, and the selection of 10 TVET schools to pilot the blended learning programme,” reads part of the statement.
During the launch, the Minister of State for Education, Claudette Irere, expressed gratitude to Luxembourg for their support in implementing the project and for their assistance in establishing a Center of Excellence in Agriculture, which is currently in its initiation phase.

"The successful launch marks a significant milestone in the effort to enhance digital skills in Rwanda's TVET education,” the statement added.
Additionally, on June 18, Rwanda and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg signed a grant agreement totaling €12 million (approximately Rwf 16.7 billion) to combat deforestation in the Western and Eastern provinces.
Rwanda aims to achieve at least 60 percent enrolment in TVET schools by 2024, a target that the RTB believes is attainable given the current enrolment rate of 43 percent.
