Rayon Sports need Rwf 40 million to renew the contract of their captain, Kevin Muhire, whose current deal expires on at the end of the 2023/24 season on June 30.

The club is raising the funds from various fan clubs in time to lure the attacking midfielder to a new deal as they seek to start a new football project around him.

This comes just days after Muhire confirmed to Times Sport that negotiations were ongoing with the club and he is ready to stay as long as the club meets his demands.

"We are in discussions. There are a couple of teams that have shown interest in me, but I have given priority to Rayon as always. I&039;m patient, and we will see what happens," Muhire told Times Sport after helping his side hold APR to a goalless draw in a testing match at the newly-refurbished Amahoro Stadium on Saturday, June 15.

Asked why he chose to play in the game despite his contract situation, Muhire said, "Rayon Sports is a club of my life. The president asked me, and I couldn’t think twice."

It is reported that the Rwanda international will get a monthly salary of Rwf 1,500,000 should he sign a new two-year contract.

The club is now running against the clock to sign their skipper before he changes his mind to consider a move elsewhere with a number of foreign clubs reportedly interested in his services.
