Bugesera FC goalkeeper Patience Niyongira is on his way to Police FC after the two clubs reached an agreement on his transfer.

The agile goalkeeper has one year left on his Bugesera contract, but Police FC are ready to trigger his buyout clause to secure his services.

Vincent Mashami and his Police FC scouting team are happy with what the shot stopper would bring to the team and the club and an undisclosed fee has been tabled as they hope to reinforce their goalkeeping department.

Police FC have Burundi's Onesime Rukundo as their first choice keeper and Niyongira could bring competition between the spots as the team prepares for new season on both domestic and continental fronts.

The former Espoir FC shot stopper was one of standout players in the 2023/24 Peace Cup as Bugesera FC reached the final where they lost 2-1 to Police FC. He was invited to the Amavubi camp for the June World Cup 2026 qualifiers although he didn’t make it in the final squad that played against Lesotho and Benin.

Niyongira could become the second Bugesera FC player to join Police FC, joining Nigerian striker Elijah Ani who signed for the law enforcers a fortnight ago.
