‘Kinyatrap’ rapper Jean-Paul Hagenimana, known by stage name as Bushali, has announced the date on which he will release his third album ‘Ibihe Bi7’.
The album, loosely translated as ‘Seven Days’, will be out on June 26, according to the singer.
Bushali told The New Times that the album reflects more on his life experience in and out of music and lessons he learnt during his music career so far.
"I learnt a lot in life during my career and I wanted to share my experience with my fans through music. People will get to know the ‘seven days’ I am talking about when the album gets out but to be brief, the songs in this new album covers what life has been like during my music career so far and the way forward,” he said in an interview.
The year 2019 saw the rapper and colleague Slim Drip arrested and charged for suspected drug abuse and possession, spending a month in jail but they later got off the hook.
While many anticipated that the saga would put a premature end to his career, Bushali, to the surprise of many, bounced back immediately after his release, to reclaim his name pulling off a massive performance at both the MTN Rwanda’s ‘Izihirwe na Muzika’ concert and New Year’s East African Party.
Even then, many thought his music could be on the decline given that he has not been releasing songs. However, he explained that he took a pause to concentrate on his album.
The rapper, who does music under Green Ferry Music label, said some of his songs on the album are inspired by his life in prison having spent a month in jail battling allegations of drug abuse.
‘Ibihe 7’ will be Bushali’s third album after ‘Ku Gasima’ (2019) and his debut album ‘Nyiramubande’.
The upcoming album comprises 15 songs of which over 80 per cent are collaborations with local and international artists including the likes of Bruce Melodie, The Ben, and Ghanaian singer Magnom among others.
The latter recorded a song with him before returning to Ghana after a performance at the headliner MTN Izihirwe concert back in December last year.
A total of eight producers (audio and video) contributed to the production of Bushali’s upcoming album, including Holy Beat and Green Ferry’s exclusive producer, Dr Nganji among others.
The album will be available for distribution via different online music platforms like Amazon, iTunes Music, Spotify and YouTube among others.
