Rwanda on Thursday, June 4 reported 13 more Covid-19 cases which, according to the Ministry of Health, are all linked to the Rusizi cluster.
On the same day, nine patients were discharged from treatment centres after recovery.
The new cases were identified from 1,369 sample tests.
"The new cases relate to the Rusizi cluster, and have been isolated and contact traced,” reads the ministry’s statement.
In total, the country has since March 14 recorded 410 cases of Covid-19, of whom 280 have recovered.
The virus has so far claimed the lives of two people.
Since Sunday last week, the western province’s Rusizi District that borders DR Congo has been experiencing a surge in Covid-19 cases.
This has forced the government to order sustained lockdown in Rusizi and Rubavu districts.
Rusizi’s busy city Kamembe has been placed under a two-week total lockdown.
The government has also dispatched extra medical personnel to Rusizi.
