American shooting guard Cleveland Thomas Jr. has arrived in Kigali to complete his return to Rwanda Energy Group (REG) Basketball Club. He will play for the club for the remainder of the second round of Rwanda Basketball League (RBL).
The 30-year-old was a key player for REG over the past two years, contributing significantly to the team's back-to-back BAL championships in 2022 and 2023. His efforts also helped REG to reach the quarterfinals of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) in both seasons.
Thomas landed in Rwanda on Sunday night and confirmed to Times Sport that he is rejoining REG.

Currently, REG are in third place in the league standings with 21 points, having won nine of their 12 games player so far. Their next match is scheduled against Kigali Titans on June 28.

Thomas's journey with REG began in March 2022, when he was added to the team roster for the BAL season. He made an impressive debut on March 6, scoring a game-high 26 points to lead REG to victory over AS Salé. Later that year, he helped the team secure the Rwandan championship.
In October 2022, Thomas played for Al-Ahli Benghazi in the Arab Club Basketball Championship. He then moved to Beirut Club, competing in the Lebanese Basketball League (LBL) and the West Asia Super League (WASL).
He also previously played for Mexican team Dorados de Chihuahua in July 2023.
