Bertrand Iradukunda has insisted that he wants to help Gasogi United win trophies after joining the Rwanda Premier League side on a two-year deal on Tuesday.
The former APR forward’s contract will go into effect starting with the 2020/2021 season as his current contract with Mukura Victory Sport expires at the end of this season.
"It is an exciting challenge to join Gasogi, I am very happy and look forward to start playing for the club,” said Iradukunda after penning his contract. "They (Gasogi) are of the most ambitious teams in the league, and I am here to help them win trophies.”
After 24 matches into the coronavirus-hit league season, Gasogi, who are making their debut campaign in topflight football, are ninth on the 16-team table with 30 points.
"From what I already know, Gasogi has supportive management and a strong – and youthful – squad. Challenging for trophies is possible.”
During his four-year stint with local giants APR, between 2014 and 2018, Iradukunda won three league titles and also featured for the club in the Caf Champions League.
He is one of the few players who have grown from one national team set-up to another, starting with U17, U20 to U23 and finally to the senior team.
