The third edition of the Caravane du Rire, a comedy festival, is around the corner. Slated for June 29, at the Institut Français in Kigali, this yearly event aims to celebrate humour and guarantees an evening of laughter and joy.
This year's festival, unlike past editions that visited Rwanda, Burundi, and Congo, will only take place in Rwanda. The multilingual event will showcase over 10 comedians, including local favourites and globally recognized names, performing in Kinyarwanda, English, and French to appeal to a varied audience.
The Caravane Du Rire will feature a star-studded lineup of comedians who are ready to deliver side-splitting performances guaranteed to leave the audience in stitches.
Headlining the festival is Samia Orosemane, a Paris-based comedian known for her unique style and humorous takes on life and love. Joining her is Sylvanie Njeng from Cameroon, celebrated for her vibrant humour and captivating storytelling. Uganda’s Napoleone and Cotilda, along with Kenya’s Chipukeezy, will also bring their distinct comedic flavors to the stage.
Local talent will be well represented with performances by Rwandan comedians Michael Sengazi, Prince Nshizirungu, Herve Kimenyi, Muhinde, Merci Ndaruhutse, and Babu.

"In addition to the performances, it will also offer attendees an opportunity to engage with the comedians through interactive sessions, behind-the-scenes footage, and exclusive giveaways.”
Babu, whose real name is John Naifa Muyenzi added, "This is a good opportunity to link up with those international comedians and pick their brains, share experiences, and whatever is related to comedy. This is a peace-building platform where we use comedy to promote peace.”
