RWAMAGANA—Delegates from Intel, a company that deals in technological innovations in the country last week visited Groupe Scolaire St. Aloys in Rwamagana, to assess the progress of implementation of ICT programmes at the school.
Groupe Scolaire St. Aloys was chosen as the pilot school for ICT programmes in secondary schools in the country.
In an interview with The New Times, the school Headmaster Pière Canire Rudasingwa, said they were committed to adopting technology innovations and the use of ICT at the school.
He said they have been teaching ICT lessons, and more teachers will be trained to equip them with computer skills in order to facilitate the implementation of the ICT programmes.
"I am happy to be part of pioneers of the programme, we hope to have a good number of computers connected to internet and other programmes that will help in teaching,” he explained, adding that the school has over 1,000 students.
The pilot school for ICT will get laptop computers with educational material for all subjects and the laptops have an inbuilt science laboratory where a student can carry out scientific experiments.
The Ministry of Education recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Intel for the training of 5,000 secondary school teachers in ICT.
