Back to life, back to reality… Remember that song? How are you? No, how are you really doing? Hopefully better than I am.
Bet that fresh air feels good! The most important thing is that we’re still alive and if we carry on with social distancing and all the other recommended guidelines, maybe we’ll see the end of this thing sooner than later. I’m a little apprehensive though.
Yes, I’m glad about the whole business of easing the lockdown but at the same time, I’m nervous about what might hit us down the road and I know I’m not the only one because I see the anxious looks on friends’ and strangers’ faces.
Fingers crossed things only get better though. It’s great to see almost everybody wearing their mask and apart from those talking too loudly on the phone, probably thinking they aren’t getting heard, it’s kind of reassuring that everybody is making an effort to contain their germs.
I do have another issue with the masks though. I don’t wear that much makeup but I do wear lipstick and it stains the mask and then I have to replace it and the good ones that actually provide protection aren’t cheap so I need to know where I can get some free ones!
Also, am I the only one who wasn’t really bothered how I looked when I didn’t have to leave the house, and now, we have to look presentable! So one of the first things I really wanted to do was get my hair done.
Some girls can braid and style their own hair with such ease. I can’t and so I had to go to the salon. Everywhere I tried was occupied and with so many other things to do, I couldn’t wait so if I run into you, don’t judge my messy look.
One other thing I wish we had? Disposable shopping baskets and carts. Unless you remember to carry a pair of gloves every time, the risk of infection is real from all the people who used the trolley before or even after you.
For now, what I do is wrap lots of tissue around the handles and pray I don’t catch anything, or place the basket close to the checkout counter and then proceed to drop items in there.
I get some strange looks but at this point, all I really care about is my safety. That’s my mundane routine so far. How are you guys getting on with your new-found "freedom”?
