Swiss-based Rwanda tennis player Lia Kaishiki Mosimann continued her unbeaten run at Billie Jean King Cup 2024 after her 6-0, 6-0 easy win over Ethiopia’s Sara Kassim at IPRC-Kigali Ecology Tennis Club, on Wednesday, June 12, saw her register her third straight singles win.
Kaishiki won her first singles match on Monday, June 10, when she beat Togo’s Valentine Talaki 6-1,6-2 although her individual performance couldn’t help Rwanda avoid a 2-1 defeat Benin after she and Olive Tuyisenge surrendered an 8-5 doubles lead in the decisive third set to lost it 10-8 to the Togolese. Both teams were tied to a 1-1 set.
However, before her mother, Sara Mosimann, and her two brothers, Kaishiki kept her form flying high as she put Monday’s frustrations aside to beat Lesotho’s Seapei Senatla.

The win helped the hosts recover from Togo loss to register their first win of the tournament after beating Lesotho 3-0.
And she was still unstoppable on Wednesday when she beat Sara Kassim before her teammate Gisele Umumararungu sealed second win for Rwanda after escaped Selamawit Bedada’s scare with a hard-fought 65-77, 7-5, 2-6 win.
In doubles, Kaishiki also teamed up with Olive Tuyisenge to beat Ethiopian pair Kassim and Shumet 6-0, 6-0.
Rwanda team will take a break on Thursday, June 13, and return to action on Friday where they will face Cameroon.
Togo currently tops Group A, having won all three of their matches so far. Rwanda are second, well ahead of their next opponents Cameroon who have played on game less.
The Billie Jean King Cup attracted 10 countries include Angola, Cameroon, Congo, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Algeria, Tanzania and host nation Rwanda.
The winner will be promoted to the tournament’s Group III.
