The Rwanda Showbiz Journalists Forum (RSJF) on Monday donated six tonnes of Nootri Family porridge flour to households affected by the Coronavirus pandemic in Kicukiro, Nyarugenge and Gasabo Districts in the City of Kigali.

The initiative was a partnership between Rwanda Music Federation and local food processor Africa Improved Foods, Rwanda (AIF).

The support, worth Rwf 12 million, will be handed over to beneficiaries in need identified by the local administration from each of the districts.

Joel Rutaganda, the RSJF President, said the forum, within their means, is committed to join hands with the government for a good cause to ensure the communities affected by the pandemic are safe from hunger.

"The Forum is aware that this is a critical period during which a lot of communities are struggling to feed their families. Thanks to our partners (AIF), this is what our forum and the Music Federation were able to offer to the community to make sure that they are safe.  We hope to support more communities in the future as long as we are able to raise more funds,” Rutaganda said.

Each of the three districts benefited one ton of Nootri Family porridge while the other part of the support will be given to artistes and showbiz journalists who have been affected by the pandemic as well.

The Forum was officially launched in December last year with mission to promote professionalism among local showbiz journalists and improve the quality content about Rwanda’s Showbiz media industry.

RSJF also has mandate to safeguard and give local showbiz journalists the protection they deserve during their daily profession towards pushing Rwanda’s entertainment industry to another level.
