Rwanda on Thursday, April 16, confirmed six more recovered cases of COVID-19 and two new positive cases. 

These results are drawn from 664 samples and have taken the tally of recovered cases to 60, while the cumulative number of confirmed cases stands at 138. 

As of now, the country has not yet recorded a fatality of this pandemic.

According to the Ministry of Health, one of the new positive cases was identified in the tracing of people who might have come in contact with previously confirmed cases, and another one had a recent travel history.

All patients, according to the Ministry, are currently in stable conditions at designated treatment facilities.

Meanwhile, as the number of confirmed cases surge, the country has taken several measures to curb the spread of this pandemic, the most recent one being the usage of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to raise awareness about the pandemic in local communities.

The country is also under a lockdown up to April 19.

In the Ministry's daily updates, it continuously reiterates that patients should facilitate the tracing exercise by disclosing people who came in contact with them. 

In addition to self-distancing and frequent washing of hands, citizens were also urged to report COVID-19 symptoms like dry cough, shortness of breath and fever, as early as possible so as to help the country contain this pandemic.

Globally, coronavirus cases have risen to more than 2,164,980 while the death toll now stands at over 144,310 and  546,230 recovered cases.
