The Rubavu-based Marines FC are bottom of the league table. They have one point from a goalless draw in their third game of the season against Rutsiro FC, who are currently in the ninth position with four points.

Marines FC have not won a single game in the 2022/23 season with five rounds of matches played so far.

But Marines FC head coach Yves Rwasamanzi believes he can still turn round the team’s fortunes when the league returns.

"We are not secure at the moment. There is pressure in every game, but the good thing is that it’s still early. So, we have ample time to work and correct our mistakes during training. This break has come at the right time; to enable us to work on a few things,” said Rwasamanzi.

He added: "One point from five matches is not ideal and we still have much to do to improve. In any case, there are still more games to be played in the first round. I am confident we can do a lot better and move out of the danger zone.”

Besides the draw against Rutsiro, Marines FC had a run of four consecutive defeats by Espoir, Rayon Sports, Musanze, and APR.
