So they are fashionistas from yesterday and you thought they have it all right? Wrong! One of the biggest challenges many people face when setting up their wardrobes, is discovering their own style and colour. The idea is simple! Get the style just right. Buy appropriate colours that will flatter your looks, iron your clothes and keep them neatly in the wardrobe. Match them up from top to bottom. Any true fashionista will agree with me on this
So they are fashionistas from yesterday and you thought they have it all right?
Any true fashionista will agree with me on this.
To be smart and eye-catching, you need first to feel comfortable and confident, which is more often a question of colours. There is no doubt that the colours you wear will have a powerful effect on how you feel, and how others respond to you.
While at it, remember that there are colours that work great to support your personality. You will definitely look lovely and feel perfect in them.
Kerry is a counselling psychologist specialising in child play therapy, trauma counselling and life caching but also deals in interior design and colour analysis.
She says that colour and smartness go hand-in-hand, because they are all about making people’s looks and their homes look prettier.
She says that, for example when people tell you that you look good, you are likely to be wearing a colour that is reflecting positively to your face.
"But if people ask whether you are ill, and you are not, it is most likely you are wearing the wrong colour!”
Call them shouting colours, but here we shall call them right colours, because it enhances one’s looks due to the shadow it reflects to one’s face. The balance of the right colour on your face will contribute to the way you are perceived. When you present yourself to the world keep in mind that the first impression is critically important.
According to the research of Professor Albert Mehrabian, a specialist in understanding of communications, 55 percent of what people make up in their minds about you occurs in the first thirty seconds of seeing you.
In principle, it means that what you wear and how you present yourself contributes to 38 percent of what people think about you. And what you actually say counts for 7 percent of what people say about you.
So how do we create the best impression of ourselves? Is it an urban myth that all women dress to impress men?Absolutely wrong! Women dress to impress other women.
Because women notice far more details than a man would. Men look at the overall picture, the image, whilst women look at every minute detail, especially when the colour and style will flatter her looks.
Flatter or not, the media has contributed to a social impact which has made people more judgemental of visual images and what they mean.
Image: This is an ongoing development, where people, especially women dress to impress the society. But wearing the correct colours, styles of clothing to suit your personality are integral to developing your life long image.
In business: Dressing surveys have revealed, women and men who do not dress smartly, were thought of as being less professional, less capable. Dressing is considered from head to toes, cleanliness, make-up, general grooming, style and colour of clothes and accessories does no need to cost a lot of money.
The new roles of women: In society, it means there is more competition in the job market, so it is smart to present yourself, your image, as though success has already come your way.
When looking for a job, or going to a function, try to think about what the expectations are for the role you will be playing, and represent yourself, by dressing accordingly. Just keep the colours right and when necessary go for the striking ones and stand out.
