The second phase of the national seat-ball championship is set to start today after two weeks in recess. Ten teams have confirmed participation in the competition which will take place in Cyangugu, Western Province.
The second phase of the national seat-ball championship is set to start today after two weeks in recess. Ten teams have confirmed participation in the competition which will take place in Cyangugu, Western Province.
They include; Huye, Musanze, Intwari, U.N.R, Rusizi, Gatagara, Karongi, Kivu, Nyanza and T.H.T.
Intwari won in the first phase after beating rivals Huye in the final and will be looking to consolidate their position when the second phase gets underway.
Ahead of the competition, Intwari Seat-ball club official Celestin Nzeyimana sounded confident when he said, "We have been training for over a week and we’re fully committed to retain our position.”
Meanwhile, the National Paralympic Committee will also organize a Sitting volleyball tournament, which will run along side the Seat-ball event.
Teams that will participate in the Seat-ball tourney are the same that will compete for the Sitting volleyball title.
NPC president Dominique Bizimana believes the tournament will be a success, "We have got sponsorship from Onatracom, which boosted our preparations tremendously and we don’t anticipate any problems in the second phase”.
