The Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Central African Republic Armed Forces, Maj Gen Zépherin Mamadou, visited the Rwanda Defence Force headquarters where he was welcomed by the RDF Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Mubarakh Muganga on Monday, June 10.

Last year, Central African Republic President Faustin-Archange Touadéra said that the bilateral cooperation arrangement with Rwanda is fruitful, having helped to restore peace and security in his country.

An RDF statement notes that Mamadou also extended a courtesy call to the Minister of Defence, Juvenal Marizamunda.

"They held bilateral talks to further deepen the existing relations between the two armies,” it is noted.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mamadou said that the purpose of his visit is to exchange ideas within the framework of the bilateral agreements signed in the past, "in the field of training and operations that are progressing well.”

He said: "On this occasion, as you know, the relationship between our two armies is truly elevated. This stems from the agreements already established between our two Heads of State who have agreed to strengthen cooperation between our two armies.

Both delegations held bilateral talks to further deepen the existing relations between the two armies.

"We particularly rely on the effective model of the Rwandan army, which is already achieving numerous achievements on the ground in the Central African Republic as part of the UN peacekeeping mission and also bilaterally.”

The CGS of the Central African Republic Armed Forces and his delegation are in Rwanda for a week-long working visit.

During their stay, they will tour the Rwanda Military Academy in Gako, Zigama CSS, and other agencies affiliated with the Ministry of Defence.
