Rwanda Bankers' Association (RBA) has advised banks to temporarily close some of their branches, especially those located in Kigali amidst the spread of COVID-19.
In a statement released on Tuesday, March 24, the association explained that the move is in line with mitigating the spread of COVID-19 by restricting movements.
It also noted that every bank will inform its esteemed customers on closed branches.
So far, Rwanda has 40 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Several measures have been employed by the Government to prevent the spread of this pandemic, among them, temporary closure of schools, churches and suspension other large gatherings.
The Government has also recently urged all citizens to remain home, with the exception of those who provide essential goods and services such as food and healthcare services among others.
