SKOL Brewery (SBL) on June 7 introduced a new addition, &039;Virunga Silver' beer, to its lineup in a spectacular launch party at Mundi Center. The grand affair also unveiled new premium looks for ‘Virunga Gold’ and ‘Virunga Mist’ beers.

The upgraded beers feature premium long-neck bottles with modern, stylish metallic labels. The stronger Mist and Gold beers are now in brown bottles, while the new Silver beer will be available in green bottles.

Over 500 guests joined the celebration in a lively party with renowned South African DJs, Soul Nativz and popular Rwandan DJs Sonia and Fiston playing vibrant sets. The music, a mix of local tunes and amapiano, kept the dance floor packed until late. The main attraction was the grand unveiling of Virunga Silver, a 100 per cent malt beer with no added sugar. Guests enjoyed their first taste of the new beer which features a special type of hops called "Citra” for a refreshing and unique flavour perfect for summer.

Eric Gilson, the Skol Brewery General Manager, said: "This new beer, Virunga Silver, embodies our highest standards. It represents our dedication to making outstanding beers for our consumers.

Marie-Paule Niwemfura, the Skol Brewery Marketing Manager, said: "The launch of Virunga Silver in this premium packaging is a milestone for the brand. We wanted to create a night that embodies the true party spirit of Virunga Silver and we're thrilled to see such a positive response from our guests.”

The launch party emphasised the theme of the new Virunga Silver campaign: "Dare to change and release the party.”

"The ambiance, combined with the smooth, refreshing taste of the new beer makes it clear that it is set to become a staple for summer celebrations. For more updates and to follow Virunga Silver activities throughout the summer,” she said.

Niwemfura also noted that the launch of Virunga Silver, aimed to create a cohesive and premium look for the Virunga family of beers.

"All our Virunga beers now feature upgraded designs, available in premium long neck bottles with modern, stylish metallic labels. The stronger Mist and Gold beers are in brown bottles, while the new Silver will be available in a green bottle,” she stated.

Patrick Kageruka, one of the consumers, shared his excitement about the new beer and its fresh look, reflecting the positive reception from attendees.

"It has a good taste, easy to drink. It has a high drink ability and a medium alcohol level which cannot let anyone get drunk easily so you can party all night long and enjoy with your friends and family. It&039;s indeed a beer best for any party,” he said.

"I love its package because it's connected to nature. You can have three or four bottles and still want some more. I loved it and will continue to drink it.”

DJ Sonia, real name Sonia Kayitesi, the official ambassador of Virunga Silver beer, echoed similar sentiments, stating that she has received positive feedback from consumers so far.

She said: "People loved it. It's not easy to launch a product and get such quick and positive feedback on the first day. We've launched it and will continue to distribute it, telling people more about it so they can get to know and love it even more."

Kayitesi said Virunga beer lovers should focus solely on this beer for now. "This time is dedicated to it only; other bottles should wait a little bit until people embrace its exceptional taste."

Virunga brand is dedicated to producing high-quality products, with a focus on creating unique drinking experiences for its consumers. The success of the launch party showcased the brand’s innovative approach and strong connection with its audience.

Virunga beers are now available in bars, sold in crates of 24 x 33cl bottles, and retail at Rwf800 per bottle.
