It has been a good week full of sagas and trends in Rwanda’s entertainment industry and here we are for it.
Last weekend, renowned Rwandan gospel music star Israel Mbonyi once again delivered an energetic performance in Brussels, Belgium, while the talk in Rwanda’s showbiz was all about the beef between upcoming rappers Zeo Trap and Hollix.

Cyusa Ibrahim lauds RPF-Inkotanyi in concert
Gakondo musician Ibrahim Cyusa on Saturday, 8 June, delivered a mesmeric performance during his Migabo live concert held at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village.

The concert, which attracted revelers from various generations, served as a special occasion to praise RPF-Inkotanyi and president Paul Kagame who has lifted the country from the dark to light over the last 30 years.
The Concert also featured performances by other talented musicians like Chris Neat, Mariya Yohana, Ruti Joel and cultural troupe Inganzo Ngari, which raised Cyusa before he launched a solo career half a decade ago.
Mbonyi lights up Brussels again
Rwandan gospel star Israel Mbonyi put up a massive show on Saturday night at the Dome Events hall in Brussels in a concert that attracted some thousands of his fans based in Europe.
The concert had earlier taken an unexpected turn when the demand for tickets surpassed expectations, forcing organisers to shift the stage from Birmingham Palace to Dome Events Hall whose capacity is way bigger than the former’s.
Mbonyi performed alongside the likes of Aline Gahongayire, Peace Hoziyana and other few gospel singers.
After Brussels, the 'Icyambu' hit maker will take no break as his focus is already on East African music tour which will reach Uganda and Kenya.
Zeo Trap’s diss track deleted on YouTube amid beef vs Hollix
Ever since 2024 begun, underground rappers Zeo Trap and Hollix have been involved in a tug of war and exchanging diss tracks, but the two became a public interest last week when Zeo Trap dropped an eight-minute track dissing the latter.
Dubbed ‘Sinabyaye’, the song dedicated to Hollix and Ish Kevin, attracted attention of many music listeners over how it consisted dirty language and insults, a move that also made it gain criticism from various people.
The song was later removed on YouTube after Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) summoned Zeo Trap and requested him to delete the song on all streaming platforms.
The duo’s beef is said to be one of biggest hip hop war in Rwanda, following Bulldog-Pfla feud back in 2015.
Sam Zuby snubbed from running parliamentary seat
Comedian Samson Mucyo who is popularly known as Sam Zuby Comedy did not make it on the provisional list of candidates competing for parliamentary seat ahead of July elections.
According to a communique from National Electoral Commission, the comedian was snubbed from the list after providing a medical certificate from unqualified doctor.

However, like others, this comedian still has the opportunity to get the valid document and submit within five days from the date of the announcement of the provisional list.
