On March 14, a video of Bishop Aline Muhoza of Kanombe-based Holy Spirit Church attracted massive heat on social media.
The video, aired on Deliverance TV, showed her affirming that Coronavirus was not going to reach the country which prompted heated debates among tweeps.
"Coronavirus won’t arrive in the name of Jesus, is it stronger than Ebola? It’s not stronger than ebola which stopped at Goma,” the video roughly translates.
Contrary to her words uttered during a service on March 5, a week later, Rwanda has 5 cases of persons affected with coronavirus according to the country's Ministry of Health.
However, Bishop Muhoza told The NewTimes that some people slightly misinterpreted her message.
"There is a fine line between prophecy and petition. We were praying for the country, pleading with God, who had protected us against Ebola, to now protect our country against Coronavirus,” said Bishop Muhoza adding that God doesn’t grant everything we request right away.
Nevertheless, the bishop attested that the virus arriving in Rwanda may be God’s ways to showcase his power.
"It (Coronavirus) may have reached but no one dies of it, as God’s warning to show us that we should approach him more, and seek his ways.”
She further recommends more prayers and repentance to never occur any death of Coronavirus.
"All Rwandans should pray to God and repent so that God shows us mercy so that there will be no death of any Coronavirus patient,” Bishop Muhoza said.
