Kiyovu Sports’ uninspiring form at home the Rwandan Premier League season continued on Thursday, October 13, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by visitors Etincelles.
This was the second time in the season that Kiyovu failed to pick maximum points at home. They lost 2-1 to Sunrise FC in their last encounter at the Kigali Stadium.
Etincelles came into the game with a well rehearsed plan as they were able to close all spaces and eventually cut supplies to danger man Abedi Bigirimana.
The away side soaked pressure and relied on the pace and the artistry of Ghanaian striker Moro Sumaila who played upfront as a lone ranger.
The deadlock of the game was broken in the 74th minute through a fantastic finish from Sumaila.
Kiyovu pushed more men upfront and got the equalizer in the 88th minute through Bizimana Amissi.
Elsewhere, in Nyagatare, Sunrise FC suffered a 2-1 defeat in the hands of visiting Mukura Victory. Vedaste Niyibizi gave the home side a first minute lead but Mukura rallied back to win the game through a Robert Mukoghotya brace.
In Ngoma, an 80th minute Shumbusho Aphrodis strike ensured that newly promoted Rwamagana City bagged their first win in the league as they beat Gasogi 1-0.
Police FC were to host Bugesera FC at the Kigali Stadium in a late evening kickoff.
