Miss Tonzi is proving to be more than just a musician, thanks to whoever has taken an initiative to sponsor her in her career.

If you were part of the crowd that turned up for her debut 11-track "Humura” album launch at the Kigali Serena Hotel on Sunday, you would know what I am talking about.

Clementine Uwitonze, (real name), is a 28 Rwandan fashion designer and musician, who has successfully released five singles and an album.

Little wonder that her publicity on the billboards and on street screens branded her the ‘phenomenal woman.’

There was also a promotion during the launch to support the singer. Each CD with a gift sold at Rfw50, 000, and hundreds of people scrambled to pay, an indication that her music was really liked by many.

However, all the CDs at the entrance sold out at Rfw5, 000 each. High profiles also attended the show to witness the talent in this young Rwandan beauty.

The attendance was also overwhelming, and one of Serena’s auditoriums was ablaze. It was more than just an album launch but a merrymaking event with a showcase of class, image and style, and revellers that mainly comprised those names that matter in the social circles.

Guests leisurely walked in to the auditorium one-after-another to witness the big do. One felt Miss Tonzi’s omnipresence of some sort, as her music was continuously played in the background.

The entire scene was decorated with spotlighted and sparkling colours; pink, yellow from silk fabrics.

Time was managed quite well, as the event did not stretch long and drive away revellers. The 600-seater auditorium was parked to its capacity, as some of other attendees had no option, but to stand outside. Despite the rains that could have put off many, people turned up in big numbers.

Celebrated gospel musicians did the curtain raising for the first two hours. Patrick Nyamitari was first on stage with his hit Imana Iragukunda (God loves you). Others included the Victory singers, The Sisters and Drama Team (Shout Again group).

Rwanda’s famous gospel singer Mani Martin made a fashion statement when he appeared in white attire right from the shoes to an un-tucked in shirt with a necktie. He also, had his share of applause from the concertgoers as he sang ‘Imana’

The concert was seemingly a Born Again Christians sort, but even others from different religions were not excluded from the show.

The atmosphere was amazingly great! And besides, whoever enjoyed the rap, hip hop, and varieties of other melodies were not left in a disappointment, because the rhythms played covered it all.

Then there came a moment of silence. The lights went dim and the curtains were drawn. The ‘Humura’ melody finally loomed the room, flanked by her group, clad in striking and vibrant colours that matched the decoration on stage.

Miss Tonzi appeared before a magnificent golden stage. In the background were her Band members: pianists and guitarists all clad in nice costumes.

They did the harmonising behind the ‘Humura’ melody as the songbird made a grand appearance in a gold and pink colour outfit. The crowd stood-up and cheered, as they immediately started singing alongside.

Finally, because of the over blazing and peaceful music, many abandoned their seats and joined her on stage, from where they danced themselves almost half-lame and singing their hearts out!
