National football title’s contenders APR and Rayon Sport are in for tricky tests against league minnows this afternoon in Kigali.

Record nine-time league winners play relegation top candidate La Jeunesse at Ferwafa grounds while Rayon Sport takes on Amagaju at Nyamirambo stadium.

Both giants clashed in the local ‘El Classico’ over the weekend and the Blues came out on top with a hard-fought 1-0 win over their traditional archrivals.

The loss left APR on second position with 33 points, one behind Atraco and a further one point ahead of Rayon after 15 rounds of matches and any slip-up against relegation battling Jeunesse would further damage their hopes of retaining the title.

La Jeunesse are placed bottom of the standings with 11 points in 15 matches and don’t have any chance of escaping the relegation zone following their 0-3 beating by fellow relegation battlers SC Kiyovu.

Rayon are one point behind APR and know that a win over Amagaju will add steel in their quest for this year’s league title.

Amagaju played a one-all draw against Marines over the weekend and has 17 points on eighth position.

In today’s other fixtures, ninth placed AS Kigali (15 points) host fourth placed Electrogaz (20) at Kicukiro grounds.

League action continues tomorrow when the champions and table leaders Atraco take on Kibuye at Ferwafa grounds.

The taxi-men side lead the standings with 34 points after winning 2-0 over Electrogaz over the weekend.

Mukura will take Marines at Rwanda National University stadium, Butare while SC Kiyovu will host Police at Nyamirambo stadium.
