The state-of-the-art Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda, which has been undergoing a major facelift for the past two years is now deemed ready to host big games.
Works on the 45,000-seat edifice started in mid-2022 by Turkish Construction Company Summa.
Upon completion, the expanded facility whose initial capacity was at 25,000, will rank it among stadiums that meet international and modern standards.
The ultramodern edifice is expected to be completed in the coming months and it will, among other tournaments, host the 2024 Veterans Club World Championship slated for September 1-10 where it will attract 150 football legends including former Ballon d&039;or winners Ronaldinho, George Weah and Michael Owen, among others.
The New Times understands that the facility could also host the Liberation Day celebration which will take place on July 4.

A tour inside the Amahoro stadium shows that all is set.
The pitch is made of hybrid grass and the seats in the stadium were painted in colors of national flag(Blue, Yellow and Green).
Again, there is a VIP Lounge, an Amavubi bar, a place for the physically challenged, generator room, fuel room, dressing rooms, washroom, coaches&039; office, massage room, changing room, FIFA office.
Other features include Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Room, match officials' rooms for both male and female, kids' locker room , kitchen, players’ medical room, doping control room, staff and management room, among others.
The new Amahoro Stadium is one of the modern and well-equipped stadiums in Africa and it is arguably the best in the East African region.
Amavubi could start hosting their home matches in September when the 2025 AFCON qualifiers begin.
