In his keynote address at University of Kigali's 8th graduation ceremony, Chairman of the Board of Promoters, Prof. Nshuti Manasseh, encouraged the graduates to actively shape their future.

"As you step into the future, remember that the knowledge and skills you have acquired are tools for you to create, influence, and transform the world," Prof. Nshuti added.

Chairman of the University Governing Body, Mr. Philibert Afrika, discussed briefly the strategic plan for 2024-2028, which focuses on five key pillars: academic excellence, research and innovation, community engagement, organisational excellence, and the "green university" concept.

"We are committed to setting a benchmark in green initiatives and academic excellence, positioning our university as a leader in sustainable practices and educational achievement”.

He also highlighted the importance of advanced learning and development facilities, particularly for Africa's growing youth population and rapidly evolving technology globally.

"As a result, we are constructing a state-of-the-art University, set to be completed by mid-next year. This new building will provide a cutting-edge environment for study, research, and community participation. We are poised to lead and innovate constantly, taking into consideration what a University of the Future should look like,” Mr. Africa added.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dan Musyoki praised the graduates for their resilience and determination. He urged the graduates to take up their mantle as the architects of the future, praising the Class of 2023&039;s resilience and determination.

"Today is more than a celebration, it's a testament to your determined spirit," he said.

Graduate Joseph Hagenimana shared his delight in graduating and his belief in the importance of self-reliance.

"Rather than waiting for someone to give us a job, we must create our own. Rather than relying on society for employment, we must become entrepreneurs,” he said.
