Dear Editor,
I would like through your esteemed paper to register my disappointment over the poor services being offered by your company!
For the past four (4) months people upcountry have not been able to access any newspaper; even those who have subscribed cannot get a single copy! Places affected are: Rwamagana, Kayonza, Ngoma, Gatsibo and Nyagatare.
This has hindered development in terms of people’s attitude towards adopting a culture of reading, and knowing what is happening nationally and internationally.
When we talk to your representatives in various districts they just tell you, "we had a few copies in print, so they couldn’t be posted upcountry”. I think this is a lame and vague excuse.
Even in Kigali you can’t buy yourself a copy of New Times on a daily basis; newspaper vendors tell you to wait until the following day or else to go to New Times headquarters.
We are proud of The New Times being Rwanda’s first daily newspaper; however, we are being disappointed by the service delivery.
Please would you improve your services to meet customer needs and expectations.
Concerned Citizen.
Dear Fred,
The management of Rwanda’s only daily, The New Times, wants to thank you for the heartfelt letter you’ve written.
While we understand the frustrations that our loyal readers feel because they aren’t able to read the newspaper in a timely manner, we, at The New Times, would like to explain some of the issues that have caused your obvious disappointment.
The printer that The New Times uses, which belongs to ORINFOR, is being upgraded, as we are sure you know. For the time being, however, the printer being used presently cannot handle the increased number of issues that are needed to satisfy the entire public.
However, a new, printer is soon to be installed, that will be able to handle the vastly increased volume.
We, at The New Times, ask you to be patient in the transitional phase we are in. However, we will endeavour to make sure that our readership is always satisfied- its on this note that we wish to inform you that our readership in the above mentioned areas will receive their copies of Rwanda’s leading daily.
