RECALLED: Jimmy Mulisa

Rwanda’s national football team, the Amavubi Stars midfield Jimmy Mulisa has been recalled to the team after a period of more than one year in international wilderness.

The Belgium based former APR man last donned the national colours during the reign of former national football team coach Michael Nees.

Mulisa will be joined by Olivier Karekezi(Ham Kam), Said Abedi Makasi(Difaa El Jadida), Henri Munyaneza (Germinal Beerschot),Jimmy Mulisa(KSV Roeselare), Saddou Boubakary(Libya) and Hamad Ndikumana(AC Omonio).

According to request  sent by Ferwafa to the players’ teams, the national teams players are expected in the country on March 17, 11 days before the third/final round of the 2010 World/Africa Cup qualifiers which gets underway on March 28.

Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa told Times Sport that they have written to respective clubs to release Rwandan players on March 17 such that they join Amavubi camp tens day before Rwanda face Algeria on March 28.

"We have written letters to all European clubs to help and release our players such that they can join camp early,”
"It’s just a request which would help Amavubi Coach Tucak Branko to access the players before they face Algeria,” Kalisa said.

For the case of the qualifiers, European clubs normally release players five days before the day of the match thus Ferwafa’s maybe overlooked at the time when different clubs would want to feature most of their players to avoid any mishaps in their respective leagues.

Karekezi is joint top scorer with Abedi for Rwanda in the qualifiers with three goals each and is the man expected to inspire Amavubi Stars to World Cup and the African Cup of Nations glory.

Meanwhile, Amavubi team will start residential training March 8 to prepare for the Algeria tie.

Rwanda is drawn alongside Algeria, Egypt and Zambia in Group C of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

Having failed to qualify for the last two Nations Cup finals, Rwanda must finish inside the top three to qualify for Angola 2010 CAN finals.
