Rwanda National Police's Fire and Rescue Brigade on Monday, February 3 rescued a number of people who were stranded after heavy rains flooded the area around One-Love.

According to Meteo Rwanda, more rains are predicted in the first three months of the year than the previous years.  They forecast rainfall ranging between 400-500 millimetres, due to increased water temperature in the Indian Ocean and cloud convergence over the region.

The Ministry of Emergency Management said that 13 people had died due to the heavy rains while 2 were injured. 15 houses were destroyed by the rains.
