Jean Claude Muhirwa has challenged his IPRC–Huye women’s basketball team to stay focused after beating the Hoops Rwanda to win this year’s National Heroes Cup on Sunday.

The Huye-based side lifted the title on top of Rwf500,000 in cash prize after dominating then holders the Hoops 70-47 in the final at Amahoro Stadium.

"I am happy for the victory and proud of my players, but there is still a lot of work to do. We should stay focused, the season has just started,” Muhirwa told Times Sport in an exclusive interview on Monday.

"Now that the Heroes Cup is over, the attention is moved back to the league.”

The 2017/2018 BK Women’s Basketball National League champions, IPRC–Huye started the new 2019-20 league season with a convincing 81-61 win over the Hoops Rwanda a fortnight ago.

After two weeks in the 2020 edition of the annual Heroes Cup, the league resumes Friday, February 8.
