Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente receives Ambassador Liu Yuxi, Special Representative of the Chinese Government for African Affairs. in Kigali on June 3.

Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente, on Monday, June 3, received Liu Yuxi, the Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs, for discussions that focused on enhancing the bilateral relationship between Rwanda and China.

The Chinese envoy also brought an invitation to the upcoming Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) due in September.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Ambassador Liu expressed his pleasure at visiting Rwanda, describing it as a "brotherly and friendly” country.

"We are satisfied with the current China-Rwanda bilateral relations, and we are also eager to expand our cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral areas,” he said.

They discussed ways to strengthen existing cooperation and exchanged views on the upcoming Forum on China–Africa Cooperation Summit

Liu commended Rwanda&039;s achievements made under the leadership of President Paul Kagame, highlighting the country’s rapid economic growth, social stability, and national unity.

The Chinese envoy also said the FOCAC summit will gather Chinese and African leaders to discuss further cooperation, aiming to elevate China-Africa relations to a new level and deliver more outcomes.

"Rwandan people are very good friends of the Chinese people, and we are privileged to extend an invitation from the Chinese government to the Rwandan government for the upcoming summit,” Liu said.

He expressed anticipation for the visit of Rwandan leaders and delegations to China to discuss ways to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

China and Rwanda have over 50 years of diplomatic relations, and cooperation in various sectors.
